Getting Started
What this tool does
PDF Tiler takes any multi-page PDF sewing pattern, removes the page margins, tiles all the pages together into a grid, and exports a single file at the correct width for a plotter or large-format printer (841 mm wide). Your pattern pieces stay at their true physical size — a 2×2 inch calibration square will always print as 2×2 inches.
Step 1 — Upload your PDF
Drag and drop your PDF onto the upload area, or click it to browse. The tool accepts any multi-page PDF pattern — A4, Letter, or any other page size.
Step 2 — Remove margins
Most PDF patterns have a white border around each page. Use Manual trim to strip these before tiling. Enter the margin size in mm or inches — the chain button keeps all four sides locked together. Unlock it to set different values per side.
Step 3 — Set the grid layout
Use the cols × rows inputs to match your pattern's intended arrangement. For example, a pattern laid out across 4 columns and 2 rows would be 4 × 2. The app defaults to a balanced layout automatically.
- Use + Add row to add extra empty rows for rearranging
- Changing columns automatically recalculates rows to fit all pages
Step 4 — Arrange the pages
Check that the pages are in the right positions. You can:
- Drag and drop any tile to swap it with another
- Type a custom order in the page order field and hit Apply
- Hit Reset to restore the original order
- Click any tile to inspect it at full resolution in a lightbox
Step 5 — Select and delete unwanted pages
To remove pages from the grid:
- Hover a tile and click the orange × to remove a single page
- Click a tile to select it, then Shift+click to select a rectangular block (like Excel)
- Ctrl/Cmd+click to add individual tiles to the selection
- Use the floating bar at the bottom to Delete pages or Delete column(s)
Step 6 — Preview
Click Preview to see the full assembled pattern as one high-resolution image. Use the zoom controls to check that seam lines align correctly across page boundaries.
Step 7 — Generate & print
Click Generate PDF — the file downloads automatically. The output is always 841 mm wide (full A0 plotter width) and exactly as long as your pattern. Send it to any print shop or large-format plotter and ask them to print at 100% scale.
